MIRAZUR BECOMES THE WINNER OF THE WORLD’S 50 BEST RESTAURANTS 2019

Restaurant Mirazur from Menton, France, chef Mauro Colagreco, has won the S. World Pellegrino and Acqua Panna competition for The World’s 50 Best Restaurants.

The winners of the prestigious global gastronomy contest were announced on June 25 in Singapore.

With a slight margin from the winner, the top three were Noma Copenhagen, Denmark, the runner-up restaurant, and Asador Etxebarri from Atxondo, Spain, the third runner-up.

FOOD MEETS FUTURE
The day before the award ceremony, June 24th, S. Pellegrino introduced Food meets Future, an interactive four-part event dedicated to inclusiveness, inspiration, responsibility and talent. The event was held to commemorate the 120th anniversary of S. Pellegrino. Read more about the event here.

OTHER AWARDS
During this long-awaited evening of the annual awards, several restaurants and chefs were awarded, as well as restaurants called rising stars. The awards received: a restaurant, which won first place in the selection, a restaurant, the merits of the owner of which were given special attention, as well as a restaurant whose chef is committed to environmental and social responsibility.

PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED AWARDS
The winners of some nominations of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants contest became known on the eve of the ceremony; their awards were presented during the evening.

Among them was the American Express Icon Award, which was presented to Jose Andres. This award marks his career as a chef and restaurateur, and also encourages the recent humanitarian work of the World Central Kitchen project, through which Jose Andrés has become a worldwide icon of cuisine.

The Miele One To Watch Award was presented to Lido 84 Restaurant on Lake Garda, Italy. This award testifies to the growing worldwide recognition of the restaurant, which is not yet included in the list of the 50 best restaurants, but which has huge potential for this. Lido 84 was opened in 2014 by the brothers Riccardo and Giancarlo Camanini. The key word in their kitchen is surroundings. The culinary philosophy of their restaurant is inspired by the surrounding landscape of Lake Garda.

The elit ™ Vodka World’s Best Female Chef 2019 award was awarded to Daniela Soto Innes, chef at the modern Mexican Cosme restaurant in Manhattan. The Best Chef Award, now in its ninth year, has found 21 women from 15 different countries and continues to promote gender equality in the world of haute cuisine.
